Working through lower-back pain
Lower-back pain is one of the most common painful conditions. Those who haven’t suffered from lower-back pain may scoff at the debilitating nature of it, but anyone who has experienced it first-hand will know that it is no laughing matter. The number 1 problem with lower-back pain is that it makes walking difficult, sleep often impossible, and sitting and typing at a computer screen more or less a nightmare. This inevitably means that the sufferer suffers not only in his or her work, but in his social life too. In other words, it’s something that needs sorting.
Here are a few causes of back pain and ideas for how to avoid them happening:
1) Stress. This one is obvious, and difficult to remedy. A good way of dealing with this when it happens is to put plenty of cushions in-between your back and the chair. To avoid stress triggering lower back pain, avoid making sharp jerky movements.
2) The classic: bending down to pick something up and not bending the knees: this is no doubt the al-time most common one that does it. To avoid massive back pain and weeks off work, bend the knees and never pick up anything you don’t think you can manage.
3) The oldie but goodie (or baddie, as is more accurate): bending over the sink to wash your hair with Pantene and getting stuck: avoid this by washing your hair in the bath next time.
Most importantly, remember that all these things can more or less be avoided; if you’re getting recurring symptoms then it’ll be because you’re pushing yourself too much!
